Hajime Nishikawa (西川 一, Nishikawa Hajime) is a first-year student currently attending Yezo Agricultural High School. His family grows potatoes.

Personality & Character

Personality

He's an otaku with a complete collection of figurines and posters. He is a first-year roommate and sensible friend to Yugo Hachiken, often helping him out and giving advice when needed. Nishikawa love his figurines and takes excellent care of them. Hachiken threatened to sell them when he went into a "how to make money" craze, and Nishikawa immediately threatened to kill him for it.

His agriculture knowledge was able to come in handy for the first pizza party. The asparagus provided for the pizza party had to be brought fresh to ensure the taste would be fresh as well. He was also able to explain the usefulness of the smaller, misshapen potatoes and the sweetness of spinach.

He hopes to get accepted to a university in Tokyo because, in his words, Tokyo is the holy land for otaku. Nishikawa is normally laid back, yet hard working individual when needed. He's a relatively friendly person unless bothered. If anything is done to get in the way of him using his computer and playing games, it is a punishable offense, as Shinei Ōkawa learned the hard way.

Skills & Abilities

Good with technology. He's been a large help when any other students have technology issues or need recommendations. He gave an old laptop to Hachiken and helped recommend a computer for Ichirō Komaba so he could start receiving online tutoring from Shingo Hachiken.

Nishikawa has an excellent artistic sense. He either is only is able to draw in an anime style, or only chooses to draw in that style.

Having grown up on a farm, he knows how to operate some of the heavy machinery like tractors. He also has a vast knowledge of the different machines, able to list off specific characteristics of different ones seen in the story. He also learned to an extent to cook, knowing at least how to fry potatoes to be delicious.

He has an excellent business sense, having good ideas for how to market goods in a way people would like. When the students sold their sausages, his label ideas helped ensure all the sausages were sold. Also, when Keiji Tokiwa made his "boy's bath yogurt", Nishikawa suggested it would sell incredibly well if it was made in the girl's bath.

History

Nishikawa grew up on a farm that specialized in growing potatoes, but also grew an assortment of other crops. This is what drove him to join the agriculture program. His family's farm takes up 56 Hectares of fields so they usually ask him to come back and help take care of the fields during breaks.

Relationships

Yugo Hachiken

In their first year, Nishikawa, Hachiken, and Beppu were all roommates. He was able to help Hachiken in multiple of the projects he started: providing potatoes, vegetables and advice for the brick oven pizza and decorating the sleds for the Equestrian Club's Ban'ei race. Nishikawa has also given multiple (unappreciated) anime related gifts to Hachiken. They were the only two who successfully made it to "Area 51" in the Memory of Summer side story.

He later gave Hachiken his old laptop to help him with schoolwork and business proposal drafting/research. It almost immediately was involved in a fire started by Okawa, but still was a great help.

Tarō Beppu

In their first year, Nishikawa, Hachiken, and Beppu were all roommates. They have a shared fear for Hachiken's love for studying.
